In this modern day Arthurian, 17 year-old Boston high schooler Arriane, aka Ryan, DuLac just found out the guy she's been crushing on, hot biker Matt, is a little older than he was letting on. In fact, he is really Merlin—the Merlin, King Arthur's Merlin, the greatest wizard who ever lived. Frozen in a cave for over fifteen hundred years, he's woken for a purpose. But Ryan's not impressed. Tired of being a relationship loser, she'd rather kick his legendary behind.
Sure, the world has been crazy ever since the sword and the stone fell out of the sky like a meteor. But despite gruesome gargoyles, a deadly new world of magic, and the guy driving her crazy, Ryan knows that family is everything. Will Merlin sacrifice hers to save the world? Will she be able to stop him?

My Boyfriend Merlin was a take on the Authorian legend of the, Sword and the Stone set in today's modern times with a cast of characters mixed from years past and today.
Merlin, aka Matt Emry has reawakened from the past into today's modern world.
Set on a mission, to once again find the one true person who can release the sword from the stone.
This book starts off in school, as we are quickly introduced to Ryan, a young girl who has dated "Matt" and her foster siblings, of sorts, as her mom has died and she is takin in by the Ragnar family. Grey is her "brother" and Alexa is her "sister". Matt(Merlin) is actually portrayed as a teen in high school.
A world crisis than occurs and a Total Tremor is felt throughout the world. With the tremor comes a rock with a sword embedded in it. After the crisis, we are thrusted into action, and a little bit of confusion as the books plot is quickly thrown at you, as we see the group flee and encounter dragons and gargoyles suddenly, and reasons behind why these creatures are here in today's world.
The sword is what everyone is vying for as it holds all the power to defeat these creatures and basically, the one who can remove the sword is hailed as most powerful.
What Merlin's has to do is find candidates who are able to remove the sword, he has visions on whom maybe able too. So gathering the candidate's, Ryan and Grey being one of them he sets off across to England, to train these non-wizards, and the guardians in a secret wizard school so they can defeat and defend themselves against magic.
Power play against Merlin and his brother Vane(the darker of the two) ensues as they train the candidates and it seems for the attention of Ryan.
What I liked about the book was the new twist on the legend, the imposing gargoyles and the action was great. What I didn't care for was the quickly thrown together plot and the vibe from Harry Potter, as actual quotes were taken from Harry Potter and used in this book "he-who-shall-not-be-named".
Putting that all aside it was a good read. When Miss Ardis throws out her action scenes they are great and full of excitement I loved the fast-paced action! I also loved the way Ryan slowly build confidence and rises up to the challenge.
