- Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
My name is Lisa, but I also have a nickname that I go by and it's Silverlight. How and why I use Silverlight, well it was a nickname given to me by a friend who is a huge video gamer and he wanted me to play some online games with him, rather than using my ohhh so boring name-Lisa he came up with Silverlight and it kind of stuck. I'm a wife, and mom of four beautiful children all between the ages of 5 thru 9. I'm super busy, but I always find time to read and blog because this is my hobby and it's basically all I love to do, other than going to the beach, spending time with my kids, exploring new places to hike, and I love to dance.
I'm a relatively new blogger. I started my blog at the end of Dec 11, but didn't really plunge into it until Jan 22, 12. I actually just started getting back into reading hard core in Sept 2011. Other than the summers, I never had time to read in the past. I committed to doing something that was strictly for me, as the children get older their wants and needs change so I finally had time to do what I love. I started reviewing books and socializing with peers on the site Shelfari and sometimes Goodreads. After, being on those sites and receiving positive feedback about my reviews I decided to start my own blog as a way of sharing my reviews to an even larger audience, and to interact with authors, bloggers, etc.
2. What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
Well, right now I'm currently reading, Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs, The Last Bastion Of The Living by Rhiannon Frater, and Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
3. Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?
Yes, they have changed! I used to read mostly non-fiction, bio's, and very little fiction. After watching Twilight, and reading the series, it hooked me on the whole fiction/pnr scene. From that, and when I started my blog I was reading mostly adult Pnr Romance and Urban Fantasy., but after socializing with some great bloggers I started reading YA pnr and light horror.
4. What is your favorite part about the book blogging community? Is there anything that you would like to see change in the coming years?
My favorite part of the blogging community is making friends with some great people! I also love learning and reading about new books, or news about books/authors, and I love interacting with authors and anyone in general who happens to stop by and visit.
The only thing I wish could change would be all the drama behind the blogging community. The way some bloggers act, has a negative impact on all bloggers and it shouldn't be about the gossip and rumors. It shouldn't be about who's getting the most attention or arcs. We should try to get along and embrace our fellow bloggers instead of always finding ways to attack each other. We should be boosting our fellow bloggers up, and helping them in any way we can. It should be about our love of books. BUT, I also feel that a damaging post or comment can hurt all of us, and shouldn't be taken lightly. The best way to disagree with someone is to unfollow and not participate in the drama.
I also feel that the authors need to understand that we all have a right to our own opinion and what I may dislike, someone else may love. I wouldn't want to be blasted over a negative or positive review. We all have the right to an opinion but we all should share that right in a professional manner and expect to be treated in a professional manner.
5.If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
This is a very tough question, because I'm having a hard time deciding between author or character. I mean there are soooo many authors I would love to sit with, some that come to mind, JK Rowling, Stephanie Meyer, Kresley Cole, Jeaniene Frost, gosh, I could go on forever maybe it could be a banquet of authors ;) As far as character's there is one and it's always only been one that always comes to mind and that would be Bones from Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series he is my ultimate fav, character. I would love to spend an evening with him, getting to know him and seeing his funny, protective, tough guy side, maybe he can even call me poppet, once or twice! :)
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to get to know a little bit about me.
